The new year is inevitably a time of reflection, resolution and rejuvenation. After the excesses of December, Janus invites us to look back on the year just gone and look forward to the possibilities that lie ahead. And while we may not know what is around each new cormer, we can at least plan to greet every eventuality in style.
My first dress pick of 2014 - what an accolade! - is the Mulberry dress by & Other Stories. The high moulded waist is forgiving of festive indulgences and the bold colours will shake the life in to heavy grey mornings. The revealing slit in the back balances the high neckline - and if you're thinking of wearing this to work, consider a contrasting silk camisole underneath (it can be whipped off for day-to-night dressing).
